How does the Sales-Tax Refund Service Work?

When your merchandise is ready and you come to your selected pick-up spot, if you are taking your acquired products out of the territorial limits of United States of America in a new and unused condition you have the option to get the refund of the Sales Tax you paid on those items.

Our tax refund partners efficiently review your travel documentation and process your tax refund at the moment you pick up your merchandise. It takes less than 10 minutes from the moment cacao.tax delivers your merchandise to the moment our Refund Partners process your sales-tax refund.

**The refund processes for i) US-Residents; and ii) non-US Residents are different and require different documentation. **

DOCUMENTS

What documents do I need to Refund my Sales Taxes?

Non-US Residents / Foreign Passport holders.

International Travelers returning home must bring, for review at the regular pick-up spot, the official and/or originals of:

• Passport / Visa/ INE (Mexican Voter ID)
• I-94/ Entry Stamp / ESTA/ Global Entry
• Transportation Information (Air, Land or Sea)
• Purchased Merchandise for inspection (new and unused)*
• Original Receipts*

*If you bought through our Tax-Free Shop, cacao.tax will provide these during your pick-up appointment.

 

US Residents / Passport holders. *COMING SOON* 

When the refund service is available for US Residents, you will have to bring, for review at the airport pick-up spot the official and/or originals of:

• U.S. passport; and
• Boarding pass indicating travel beyond the territorial limits of the United States of America.

Please note that, we are NOT ABLE to currently process Sales-Tax Refund for US Residents. However, we expect they will be able to offer them soon, so please subscribe to our newsletter for updates.

How long does the Sales Tax Refund Take?

It takes less than 10 minutes from the moment cacao.tax delivers your merchandise to the moment our Refund Partners process your sales-tax refund.

 

When can I process my sales tax refund? 

Texas Law requires that all Sales Tax Refunds must be processed before you depart Texas internationally. We process Refunds for purchases made within 30 days.

 

Merchandise Conditions?

According to Texas Law, merchandise for which a Sales Tax Refund is processed must be in New and Unused condition. If Merchandise is worn or used prior to departure from Texas, it loses its eligibility for a Sales-Tax Refund.
